"NOW HEAR THIS--Flotillas 12-2 and 12-21, both based at Coast Guard Island, merged as of January 1, 2010.  New Flotilla 12-1 is the result of this combination of people and energy with the goal of increasing support to our members and the United States Coast Guard.  Our monthly meeting time will remain the same (7 pm, 2nd Tuesday of the month), in Classroom 35, Building 16, which is the gym and morale building.  A link will be provided to a Web site for 12-1 as soon as it is developed.  We look forward to seeing you in 2010.  Semper Paratus.

WHO ARE WE?
The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the civilian arm of the United States Coast Guard.  First established by Act of Congress in 1939, the Auxiliary engages in a wide range of activities from teaching boating safety classes to the public to supporting the Coast Guard directly, for example on Coast Guard cutters in the Bering Sea as Russian interpreters.  Over 30,000 dedicated volunteers strong, the Auxiliary operates on a foundation of four cornerstones:  recreational boating safety (RBS); member services (MS); operations and marine safety (OPS) and fellowship.  Young and old, working and retired, Auxiliarists are all motivated by a commitment to public service and the Coast Guard motto:  Semper Paratus (always ready).  If service in an invigorating maritime environment interests you, please read on and explore this web site.

The East Bay Flotilla has members from the entire East Bay and meets monthly at Coast Guard Island in Alameda.  It's a part of Division 12, which extends from Fremont in the South to San Ramon in the East and Richmond in the North.  The 11th District, Northern Region, encompasses Northern California and most of Nevada and Utah.  Paralleling the Coast Guard organization, the Auxiliary operates as a companion organization, with a chain of leadership corresponding to the Coast Guard chain of command.
